Madrid, originally founded as the Arab city of Mayrit in the 9th century, was born very close to where we are today, in an ancient military alcazar that over time became the Royal Palace. In 1085, Alfonso VI conquered the city, beginning its transformation under Christian kingdoms. Since then, it has grown from a modest population of 4,000 inhabitants in 1530 to more than seven million today in the metropolitan area.
Calle de las Veneras is a witness to this history. With over
900 years of antiquity, it appears on maps since the 12th century without having changed its name. Its name comes from the “veneras”, round shields that decorated the doors of houses.

The ambiance and decor. We have collaborated with renowned decorator Rebeca Ruiz to restore the splendor of this emblematic venue on Calle de las Veneras, 1, in the heart of Madrid. A sophisticated and welcoming space, where history and design meet to envelop you in a unique atmosphere.

The building that houses Alchemist 1967 was built in 1889,
on foundations from the 17th century. Our private room, with a
brick vaulted ceiling, is approximately 400 years old, offering a space that has lived through a large part of Madrid’s history.
